Having an itch to spot some effed-up A-listers on a weekend night? Looking to get your drink-on & your swerve-on within some glitzy new Hollywood scenery? Then break open the piggy-bank and get your ass over to OPERA! The latest L.A. nighttime Hot Spot that’s sure to attract the beautiful, the famous, the not-so-famous, and the paparazzi alike.

OPERA (located at 1650 N. Schrader Blvd. and situated alongside sister club CRIMSON) is barely a month old, yet it has already established itself as THE premier club to see and be seen. All based on the strength of the notorious “P.H.S.”! (Paris Hilton Sightings, for the uninitiated.)

But be warned: Based on your finances and your own individual “hotness,” you may be facing an uphill battle just trying to move beyond the sturdy velvet rope, then affording a bottle of champagne. But once this is accomplished, it’s allll worth it so you can snap those important pics with your BFFs for MySpace and be COOL!

OPERA is indeed a club heavy on mood & atmosphere. Just entering it, you cross through a threshold of dramatically lit mist (the promise of decadent wonders to come), before pushing aside the thick red velvet curtain and----hey, wait a minute.….Is this OPERA or “The Batcave”??

Where’s the electronica-infused aria sung by a 7-foot tall, androgynous blue diva who knows how to pop-&-lock? Now THAT’S Opera!!....Instead, we get dark purple lighting and crimson-red décor---like we’re inside a gothic cavern.

And the resident DJ’s mix of music--while danceable & kind of hip, is very Star 98.7….Okay, I’ll admit it’s good to listen to Star 98.7 every once in a while, just to get away from all the hip-hop. (Hey! It’s all my favorite tunes from
the 80’s, so just chill!) However, when it comes to OPERA---I now know where all the patrons
went to once Moose McGillicuddy’s closed down….Okay, the children of the former patrons
of Moose McGillicuddy’s….And only the ones with a fat trust-fund account.

Inside OPERA, the moment you look up, you notice there’s no ceiling. This section near the
front entrance is open-air (a good third of the entire establishment); and the place is
adorned with red velvet booth-lounges, most of them already reserved and each
accentuated with carafes of orange & cranberry juices sitting on the tables.
